In our last post we talked about 3 songs ranging from Harry Styles to Miley Cyrus. Let's take a look at 3 songs that are easy to sing right now!
1. Landslide (Fleetwood Mac)
What is singing without Fleetwood Mac, really? A band with 3 different AMAZING singers and even more songwriters. Hits to boot and coolness in spades. If you're look for something that it is easy to practice in a limited range -but doesn't get dull fast-definitely try Landslide. Now I always say: no song is ACTUALLY easy and the easier a song appears, it often exposes a lot of flaws since it's the singer's job to deliver the song with raw emotion. The lyrics of this alone make it easy for most of us to connect. The melody is pure and simple. Try this one next time you want to dig into your lower range.
2. Single Soon (Selena Gomez)
Really- if you're looking for a sing-able song that sits in an easy range & makes you dance, Selena Gomez has plenty of songs for you to wrap your vocal cords around. Written by a stable of famous songwriters ranging from Ross Golan to Cashmere Cat this Taylor Swift type melody will be stuck in your head (without the challenging high & low notes of a Taylor song)!
3. (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay (Otis Redding)
If you'd like to get some simple (but completely emotional) RIFFS & RUNS in your repertoire, this song is the place to start. Written and Sung by the late, great Otis Redding, you can settle into the middle of your voice very nicely. I always stress you have to work all areas of your voice to build the others. So for example- work on middle range to strengthen the foundation for the high notes. In my opinion, your middle voice is like strengthening the core of your body in fitness. A MUST.
If you need some help learning to sing, come to Venice School of Music for an in-person or online voice lesson. We have private and group classes such as our popular Singing for Fun workshop which will introduce you to other singers in Los Angeles and will challenge you in unexpected ways.
