What is a Group Voice Lesson?
Group Voice Lessons offer a private lesson experience that emphasizes technique and solo singing within a close-knit group environment. In these lessons, you'll gain singing knowledge through structured classes that include lectures and mandatory performances.
Where are these Group Voice Lessons in Los Angeles?
All group voice lessons in Los Angeles are held at the Venice School of Music. This boutique music school offers a cozy studio environment just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean in fashionable Venice, CA neighborhood. Additionally, there is plenty of parking available in the area.
What are the Benefits of Group Voice Lessons ?
Ever since I started teaching Group Voice Lessons in Los Angeles, I've noticed so many benefits that I'm considering requiring them for beginner singers.
Affordable Voice Lessons
Firstly, Group Voice Lessons provide a fantastic option for AFFORDABLE VOICE LESSONS. Similar to attending the gym, maintaining and studying the voice is essential. If your aim is to expand your range or enhance your tone, infrequent and expensive voice lessons won't be effective. Private Voice lessons are excellent for advanced singers who need refinement and already have a solid singing foundation. Typically, private lessons are most beneficial when preparing for a performance or addressing a specific technical challenge you can't resolve alone. Additionally, if your budget allows, weekly lessons are ideal. However, if not, it's crucial to sing regularly and study at least weekly if you wish to improve your singing voice.
Group Voice Lessons provide structure
In private lessons, it's common for students to arrive without having practiced their repertoire since the previous session. The knowledge that the time is private can sometimes lead students to relax and improvise during their lessons, even if they've been given homework by the instructor. In Group Voice Lessons, students attend lectures on techniques and concepts and then demonstrate how they apply these to their songs. This environment can assist those unsure of what to concentrate on by encouraging them to focus intensely on the techniques. There's also a slight (good) pressure to keep up with the rest of the class and pay attention.
Group Voice Classes create accountability
A key element of group voice classes is the accountability they establish with you, the teacher, and your classmates. The expectation of singing in front of each other every week can elevate your performance. You're likely to bond and start supporting one another. This shared commitment will motivate you to practice weekly, knowing you'll be sharing your voice with the group.
Learn by Example in a Master Class Setting
In colleges worldwide, voice students encounter the "Master Class" environment. Here, a guest voice teacher or artist visits the school to offer feedback as students prepare a song. This public voice lesson not only enhances the student's vocal abilities but also allows the audience to learn from the student's dedicated work on the music piece. Observing someone open their mouth wider to sing a note or release body tension with noticeable results can equally impact the audience. Witnessing a similar vocal issue being resolved in a lesson can have a widespread effect.
Group Voice Classes Improve Performance Skills
This is the most crucial aspect of Group Voice Classes. No private voice lesson can match it. In private lessons, students learn to sing but don't perform in front of an audience. After a year of lessons, when students try their first live performance, they often find themselves thinking, "I choked!" or "I blew it!" or "I was so nervous, I forgot everything I learned!" In contrast, a group voice class allows students to sing in front of each other right from the start, incorporating the most challenging aspect of singing. Since the class typically consists of the same students, over time, they begin to take risks because they feel supported!
So do you want to take my Group Voice Lessons in Los Angeles?
These classes are restricted to 4 students per session to ensure you receive a performance every week. Additionally, I will provide multiple levels and have already started with Group Voice Lessons Level 1.
What kind of Songs we will sing in the class?
Every class includes a structured lecture and a song that is assigned weekly. In Level 1, students sing the instructor's chosen songs because these songs are particularly effective for developing vocal skills. In Advanced Group Voice Lessons, students are allowed to choose their own repertoire with most emphasis on performance.
What if this feels too advanced for me?
Make sure to check out our Singing for Fun classes. These classes are more focused on group singing, musicianship and harmonies.
