How can you improve your songs?

In preparation of our 4-week Online Songwriting Workshop next month, let's go over some tips for what to look for when you write a song.

  1. Do your lyrics "show" vs "tell. Are you creating imagery for you listener to see with strong images and vocabulary? Remember songs are meant to be "heard" not "read."

  2. Do your melodies have repetition? Make sure they are memorable and at least repeat every so often so that they stick in the mind of your listener and allow them to focus on other aspects of the song once the melody becomes familiar.

If you'd like to work on your songs, join us on Mondays in November online from 5:30-7pm PST and learn the fundamentals of songwriting. You'll also get the opportunity to share your songs with one another and receive live feedback unlike many online courses.
