Why Choose Group Voice Lessons for Adults?
Many adults hesitate to start singing because it requires consistent study, but often can be cost-prohibitive or difficult to find practice time. Group lessons offer a unique balance of individual guidance and the ability to perform for your class at affordable prices. Here’s why this format works well for beginners:
Affordable and accessible: Group lessons cost much less than private sessions, making it easier to commit to regular lesson times. Since singing is based on muscle memory, a one-off private lesson here and there is great, but no ideal if you're unable to commit to consistent study. Areas you utilize for singing such as your vocal cords, abdominal support, ribcage expension all require daily use in order to improve.
Motivation through peers: Singing alongside others creates a positive atmosphere where you can learn from each other’s progress. You might find your teacher constantly tells you to open your mouth, but it feels awkard and you're a little lazy implementing it consistently. In the group class, you might see the difference in vocal tone when your peer opens their mouth. If it sound significantly better, you definitely will commit to this change for yourself. It's important to remember that we can't exactly "HEAR" ourselves as singers the same as we are perceived. For this reason, hearing the effects of certain techniques on other may cause us to create the FEELING for our own voices.
Less pressure: Sharing the spotlight reduces performance anxiety, especially for those new to singing. In these classes, students develop relationships with one another, much like a sport teams. They learn each other strengths and recognize how to support one another. It can be more supportive to share this journey with another person.
Fun and social: We all know it's becoming harder and hard to connect these days. Building friendships with fellow singers adds enjoyment and accountability and the potential to build a new tribe of friends who share your love of music! At Venice School of Music we all host open mics in our studios, provide room rental for enrolled student to practice and have special events such as recital and mixers so that there is a strong sense of community. If you love to sing, why not meet other people who love to sing??
Small Class Size: Our Los Angeles group voice lessons keep the class small to ensure everyone gets enough attention while benefiting from the group dynamic. Students will get the attention they need in each class and technique suggests to implement over the course of their practice week before the next lesson.

What Makes Our Los Angeles Group Voice Lessons Special?
Our lessons stand out because of the personalized attention and supportive atmosphere we create. Limiting the class to five people means:
Each participant receives tailored feedback.
Unlike a choir or many group singing classes, these Group Voice Lessons means you will get feedback on your singing technique. You might find that you need to improve your singing posture, or perhaps you're exhibiting a lot of tension in your neck and had no idea. You might find in a chorus you're singing flat but have no idea why. Group Voice Lessons will address this (exactly like a private voice lesson)
Learn from the individual challenges or your singing peers
Since an instructor will address individula challenges, you can observe the fundmentals of singing in others as well. You might have good singing posture, but hearing the difference in sound when a student with poor posture unlocks their knees will help you to solidify your confidence in this technique. Likewise, you'll often implement techniques you see other students doing immediately without having to receive the note because you've already applied the fix through obervation and self-application!
The group stays connected and motivated throughout the course.
The location is at the Venice School of Music Los Angeles is convenient and welcoming, with a comfortable studio space designed to help you focus on your voice.
