Should you take singing lessons?
I always liken singing lessons to yoga or tennis lessons : it's absolutely for everyone. You don't have to be perfect and as a matter of fact- maybe you've never even sung in your life!
Here's some example of people who take singing lesson:
Total Beginners (never sung in their life)
Adults returning to singing. (Those who sang in choirs or musicals in high schools, those who were in bands 20 years ago, those who were in acapella groups in college)
Kid and Teens learning for the first time or preparing for choral groups or musicals at high school
Teens learning to prepare for college audition
Professional Singers looking to develop endurance and improve stage performance
Karaoke Enthusiasts who want to gage their skills and have fun
Actors being asked to Sing for a Role
Public Speakers (teachers/lawyers/presenters) who wanto develop better awarenss of their voice or enhance their tone.
Individuals seeking to recover their voice from trauma or a feeling of dread, tight throat
People looking to unlock their voice and express themselves freely
Those challenge themselves to do something new and perhaps be a bit uncomfortable
Sometimes people have a sixth sense nudging them, telling them they were meant to sing :-)

At Venice School of Music, there are so many types of classes for each person- you can learn to sing from the very beginning in Group singing classes or even dive into private lessons to get one-on-one feedback immediately.
Is it possible to find affordable voice lessons at Venice School of Music?
YES! At Venice School of Music, we offer various types of classes that provide affordable singing lessons. The Singing for Fun: Voice Class for Beginners has a discounted package rate where each singing class is about $50. Group Voice lessons provide performance opportunies with catered feedback for about $70 per class. Private Voice Lesson are usually the most expensive due to the highly individualized feedback and mentoring.
How often should I take voice Lessons?
Consistency is crucial, just like with learning a language or playing a sport. Consider taking Spanish lessons once every three months without ever conversing with a native speaker. Or think about attempting a marathon after only ever running 3 miles in your life, and suddenly needing to run more than 8 times that distance in one day! You are working on developing your ears, body, and voice simultaneously. This process demands coordination and muscle memory, which cannot be achieved overnight. Engaging in weekly private lessons or group singing classes can help you establish a routine that encourages daily practice.
What types of singing classes do you offer?
Venice School of Music offers 3 types of classes as well as social activities for our music students

Let's talk about each!
Private Voice Lessons
Private Lessons are one-on-one sessions where the student can focus on a song of their choice and enhance their technique accordingly.
In a private lessons, student usually come to the lesson with a song that challenges them and needs technical support vocally. In addition, vocal coaches can help you to find your voice and repretoire that will "show-off" your voice as well as develop it.
Sometimes in private voice lessons, students will work solely on technical exercises that help to strengthen the mix voice or head voice and transition through the passagio. (This might be instead of woring on songs. ) But generally, each lesson should involve some sort of singing focused on songs aka "repretoire."
Benefits of Private Singing Lessons:
Audition Preparation
Learn personalized techniques and warm-ups for your unique voice
Refine your performance skills
Get ready for shows and develop set lists
Improve your microphone skills
Practice performance for the recording studio
For beginners, it's an excellent place to overcome shyness and nervousness if you're hesitant to sing in front of others
The ability to diagnose singing faults and develop vocal hygiene or routine to improve (sometimes recognizing a vocal fault that might need the attention of an otolaryngologist for example)
Group Singing Lessons
Group singing lessons provide more than just an affordable way to learn singing.
Typically, these lessons include a structured lecture or a song for the entire class to sing together. The greatest advantage of these classes is the built-in audience that listens to you sing. You can't practice handling nerves in a private lesson, which is a significant benefit of group voice lessons. Additionally, group voice classes offer a unique experience where observing another student make a mistake or sing beautifully under a vocal coach's guidance helps students improve their singing through observation.
Another excellent aspect of group singing is the ability to harmonize. With more than two singers present, you can practice and enhance the ear training skills necessary for harmonizing. Singing with a recording differs from having a vocal coach in the room, where you can experiment with different notes beyond what the song requires. Harmonies are an art form with numerous styles to explore, so singing classes often cover a wide range of these styles, introducing you to harmonies from R&B to rock to jazz.
At Venice School of Music, we provide multiple levels of voice classes. The Singing for Fun Class is designed for beginners or those who have taken a break from singing and need encouragement to return.
