If your child is studying piano, you're probably asking: how often should they practice?
My choice for younger beginners:opt for short bursts of practice. It's important that a student check in with piano at least 4-5 days of the week between lessons otherwise it's likely they will forget.
Piano consists of muscle memory in addition to the basics of learning musical notes and rhythm. Much like any language, it will get lost without daily use. For very young students 10-15 minutes is a great start. Remember to young children 15 minutes feels like an hour! If they really love it, they may sit there for 5 hours so at least making them touch base is important.
For an older beginner, (say age 6-8) ideally 20-30 minutes to touch base with the language of music.
