My advice: go online, check out their internet precense. In my case (and my teachers) I've taught at a college for 14 years which give some credentials and proof that I'm very serious about my skillset. In addition, i've posted hundred of videos on Tik Tok giving vocals tips, written almost 150 blog posts and have google and yelp reviews online. Definitely see if you can find proof of a teacher's work in this way.
