Where to hear live music and bands in Venice, CA? (Part 1)

Are you in West LA looking to perform or play open mics? Dying to get out there and hear live music again after 2 years of pandemic hiatus? As a music school in Venice, it's time we show a few of the spots that we think are worth checking out to either perform and catchy a show in Venice.

Let's do a quick rundown a few of the spots on the music scene in Venice, CA..

I have yet to catch a show here, but in the past always heard of LEGENDARY performers at this Venice space (ex. Ed Sheeran!) They took the pandemic to upgrade themselves and moved into an official space at 23 Windward Avenue in Venice. Make sure to get dinner reservations if you want to guarantee entry and follow them on instagram to see who's playing (and how the heck to get tickets!)

From their website:

"Winston House began as a grassroots movement to bring more live music to Venice, CA. Before we even had a name or knew what we were doing, we were throwing concerts in living rooms because it’s what we loved to do. "

Do you want to be surrounded by nature and good vibes while you listen to live music? How about golfers? And while eating a delicious chicken sandwich with some beer specials?

Then the Penmar is your spot. Nestled on the Penmar Golf Course (LA City Park, my friends) you can not only go here for rad lunches,

but on Wednesdays in the summer you can hear live music of all genres and statuses. It's my favorite spot in Venice and as a long time westsider, I'm grateful seasoned Venice restauranteurs took over this spot and maintained it's cool.

I love this space filled with gorgeous succulents and amazing gifts ranging from cards to jewelry and awesome ladies that run the joint.

In the past I've seen DJ's and live bands in addition to attending an occasional class such as macrame or vision board making.

Pre-pandemic (when known to locals as Amiga Wild) they had themed nights where cover bands would shred to band like Fleetwood Mac.) Go support them by shopping at the store and check out their calendar to see the next show. Currently on insta they've seem to be hosting First Fridays Art nights. (as of 2022).

Finally open! I just saw a student of mine perform there (Honey and the Flies- check them out!) In addition to local bands, you can find touring acts like Cannons (I actually played with this band back with my own band in Echo Park and they have BLOWN up and they're RAD.) Besides a great venue to hear music also a nice place to have a drink.

Looking to work on your own music? Make sure to go to Book Now on our site to get a music lesson, maybe in singing or songwriting to get ready for some shows.
